As the largest city in its region Abilene not only has a lot of great shopping but is a shopping destination for people living in the surrounding area.  Visitors who like to shop will also find a lot of options, from antiques dealers to large malls and quaint boutiques.

Although it may be surprising to some who are not familiar with the city, Abilene is something of an antique collectors dream.  The city is loaded with dealers and shops as well as weekly and monthly outdoor antiques markets.  Abilene's dealers sell all types of items from china and rare books to toys and what many of the serious collectors visit them to find:  Western art and collectibles.  The Convention and Visitors Bureau offers a downloadable antiques map of the city and well as a full listing of all of the area's stores, dealers and markets.

If you'd rather shop for newer items in a more traditional setting, Abilene also has ten malls and shopping centers to choose from.  The largest, The Mall of Abilene, has hundreds of stores and restaurants.  See the mall's website for hours and directions.

And if you will be spending time in Abilene's historic downtown you will also find plenty of small, unique shops there to choose from.
