Visitor Safety in Manila

Most of the business districts, such as Makati, Ortigas, Bonifacio Global City and Eastwood in Quezon City and the primary tourist spots such as Intramuros are safe areas for tourists.

Use common sense and be prudent while you are out - just like you would back home.  As with all tourist areas, pickpockets are around so bring a bag that you can wear close to your body and make sure it is zipped, avoid wearing valuables and flashy jewelry and be weary of unknown individuals who strike up a conversation with you.  Further, like many places, it is best to avoid travelling alone in dark areas.

Health Concerns in Manila

Tap water is not potable in Manila.  When in doubt, drink mineral/distilled water or soda.  Most hotels provide two free smal bottles of water.  Mini stop and 7-11s are not much more expensive than supermarkets for necessities although only the latter carry a wide range.
