Hoi An is NOT easily accessible to the international tourist!  in fact it is easier & cheaper for someone in Hanoi to fly Bangkok, Thailand than it is to fly to Danang and then by taxi or bus to Hoi An!
Because it is NOT so accessible & is somewhat hidden & takes a more determined tourist to find it is not so crowded!

There are a few options when it comes to getting to Hoi An, which depend on what type of transportation is preferred:

1. By air to Danang and then bus/ taxi to Hoi An.

Danang airport only has VERY LIMITED international flights - most travellers are forced to fly thru Hanoi or HCMC

From Da Nang you can travel by bus, private car or can take a taxi to Hoi An(similarly from Hoi An to Da Nang). A taxi from the airport to Hoi An costs you about $20US. If you take bus, you must get to the bus station (not in the airport) before going to Hoi An. We recommend you should take a taxi from the airport to Hoi An.

We think that you may also contact travel agents to book the flight tickets. This is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to book the tickets in Vietnam. Or you can book air ticket online. There are two airlines that service Vietnam's domestic routes: Vietnam Airlines , Jetstar Airline

 2. By train to Danang and then bus/ taxi to Hoi An.

There is no railway station in Hoi An. Most guests going to Hoi An by train must stop at Da Nang or Tam ky Railway Station. Da Nang Railway Station is a big station with the system of modern facilities. Everyday there are many domestic trains from Ha noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Nha Trang etc.

From the trainstation you can take a taxi (20 USD), book pick-up from hotel (25-40 USD) or join the grey minibus from Mr Dung (5 USD/person / 0914 057 256 or 47 Ba Trieu Street, Hoi An)

From Hoi An, if you would like to travel some destination around Hoi An by train such as: Nha Trang, Hue, or go back HCM city, Ha Noi, please contact travel agents. Most travel agents and hotels can book a train ticket for you. The typical railway schedule is as following or you make get it at www.hoian-tourism.com

3. By Open Tour Buses Hoi An

Hoi An is one of the stopping spots of Open Tour cars from Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Nha Trang, Dalat, etc. Everyday there are many buses in Hoi An to those places so it is very suitable for guests to choose. You should connect with agents in advance or register directly to hotel staffs, the bus will pickup you at your hotels.

Almost travel agents sell tickets to Hoi An. This is the most convenience way for tourists, especially for the foreign visitor. There is night bus can help you save more time. Here is the daily schedule for open tour bus:
