Being a popular destination during Dutch collonialization, there are several well preserved Dutch buildings and historical sites around Malang. The most popular one is  Jalan Ijen, a two kilometers long boulevard lined with palm trees. Popular historical buildings are cathedral on Jalan Ijen, Malang City Hall on Jalan Tugu, and Toko Oen, an old restaurant built in 1910 that serves delicious Dutch food and ice creams.

Head 20 km uphill north of Malang to visit Batu,a popular tourist destination also known as "apple town". Apple is the main crop of Batu, and this town is also well known for its beautiful scenery. There are several waterfalls and hotsprings in Batu, very popular for locals.
