Mony - Angkor Guide Services

I would highly recommend this service for all group sizes, whether you are single or a group of 20, the service and experience is amazing. Our guide Mr. Mony was the most knowledgeable and friendly guide we had on our whole month long tour of Cambodia! He went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and went the extra mile to do things for us with his experience and knowledge of Cambodia. Mr. Mony recommended us to the best restaurants, sights, and always had something for us to see or do. When we visited Angkor Wat he knew everything about the complex and there was no question that was left unanswered! I was very impressed by his knowledge as it clearly would have taken many years of study to be that educated about Khmer history, art, and everything about Angkor Wat! One thing that stuck out for me was the little things that Angkor Guide Services did for us like always having cold towels and cold water ready because we visited in the rainy season and was very hot! If you are looking for a memorable, fun, and educational tour of Cambodia/Siem Reap, then choose Angkor Guide Services and Mr. Mony!!

Teng Sreang - A great tour guide for an off the beaten trek of Angkor Wat and Siem Reap

Teng is a licensed tour guide and has over nine years of experience of Angkor, Siem Reap and the surrounding areas of Cambodia. I cannot express how grateful I am to Teng for showing me a different side of Angkor Wat and Siem Reap. I was able to escape the large caravan of buses and people for a more quieter side of the temples. I remember walking down this one path with Teng and enjoying the silence of the jungle, appreciating the beauty and architecture of the temples. Teng is also very flexible in helping you plan an itinerary based on your needs throughout your trip. He also knows where all the great photo spots are and lighting, so he's an excellent person to have around for good photo opportunities. Teng was informative in the history of the area, traditions, culture, and local life.

Thang Samnang- Licensed Tour Guide

I arranged a tour with Sam based on the recommendation of a work colleague.  I wasn't disappointed.   Before arriving in Siem Reap, I emailed with Sam to settle on an itinerary.  He is very knowledgable about the Angkor area as well as other sites to see and do around the area.  He recommended a few items that I wouldn't have thought to do -- like the butterfly farm -- and it made our trip.

He's affable, speaks good English, and really loves his country and community.  It all comes out in the time that you spend together.  He even offered airport pick-up and drop off for those arriving/departing Siem Reap by plane.  I hope you choose him for your Angkor tour needs!

Sokpee Sumsot - Licensed Guide

Sokpee Sumsot is a tour guide whose love for his country shows through every step he takes with you through the temples. His knowledge of Cambodian history, the Hindu and Buddhist cultures, and his mastery of the English language will ensure you have an eye-opening, enjoyable time in Siem Reap.

As you walk through the temples, on an itinerary recommended by Sokpee - though if you have specific temples you'd like to visit he will work them in - he will explain each facet as if he is telling you a story, rather than just relaying facts. Sokpee will spend the day(s) with you to make sure you are making the most of your time in Siem Reap. He'll pick you up at your hotel, arrange a tuk-tuk for the day, set your itinerary, take you over to the floating village if you would like to go, and recommend the sites that you shouldn't miss in this beautiful city.

Sopheap Brem was our  licensed guide on a recent visit to the Angkor area in November, 2011.  He is highly recommended in every regard.  As with other guides listed here, his command of the region's history, architecture, art, religious traditions, local culture, and English are excellent.  What sets him apart is his easy and genial nature, kindness, flexibility, and attention to detail.  Sopheap anticipated and accommodated needs for pacing, made excellent suggestions for the use of time, and was willing to adjust schedules as needed.  His gentle, compassionate nature made it a special joy to be with him.  He and his careful driver provided a safe, pristine, comfortable, air-conditioned car which was always at the ready in every location.  Because he has been a guide on photographic tours of the area for many years, his knowledge of timing, lighting, best angles and composition was an unexpected and welcome bonus.  An excellent guide and a wonderful human being!

Mr. San Park, a professional English speaking tour guide in Siem Reap

booked San Park for a tour to Preah Vihear and the Koh Ker temples in June 2012. San Park has been a guide for over 8 years and runs his own small business with himself, his brother and another guide. His company also offers transportation services. San Park used to work for bigger foreign-owned companies such as Hidden Adventures but has now decided to start his own business. San Park was very punctual, flexible, hardworking and enthusiastic. He provided a very reasonable rate for as  was a solo traveller. The day trip ended up being 13 hours long but San Park was always professional throughout. San Park likes arranging non standard itineraries and will try to accommodate your plans as much as possible. It was very interesting to speak to him about the realities of living in Cambodia as he was always very frank with his response.

Mr. Sophy Phay: Excellent and  Knowledgeable Private Tour Guide of Angkor and Environs

Sophy Phay is the personable English-speaking owner of a private tour guide company called Angkor Car Guide. He has been a licensed and accrediated tour guide since 2001.  Serendipitiously another fellow traveler had already booked Sophy and invited me to accompany her in a private car with Sophy as guide to Banteay Srei, one of the greatest not-to-be-missed temple sites some 33 kilometers away from Siem Reap.  It was one of the best days of the trip.

Sophy is cordial, patient, and very knowledgeable about Cambodian history.  Best of all he knows all the great spots where to take photographs and how to avoid the crowds.  Booking Sophy for the next three days was not only delightful and fun but cost effective as the rates he charges are considerably less than the hotel would have charged. Sophy punctually picks up clients at their hotel every morning and helps arrange itineraries to suit travelers' interests whether to visit archeological sites or areas around Siem Reap.

Sophy has a comprehensive website with lots of information on Angkor and various suggested itineraries that will help in trip planning:

http://www.angkorcarguide.com/index.php

Visitors to Angkor are impressed with the vastness of the area and the many temples of this World Heritage Site.  When a visitor's days are limited and you wish to see as much as possible, then having a private tour guide and driver in a comfortable car is the best, safest, and most time efficient way to go.  Avid photographers will much appreciate this guide's willingness to stop for photo ops such a monkeys in the park, water buffalo in the rivers, or scenes of village life.

Excellent guide: Apollo Loeung

Actually we booked another guide for three days, but he wasn't available the last day. So Apollo replaced him for one day. The other guide was good, but about Apollo I can only say one thing outstanding!
He knows how to tell a story and keeps it interesting all day long. He told us about the history of the Angkor temples of course, but also about the history of country, how live was during Khmer rouge regime, how live is today.
His english is very good and he has a good sense of humor. He also feels when you want to spend some time on your own or when it might be right to take break.
Overall he is a very enthousiastic and good guide, so I took the intiative to mail him and help him with a user review

Informative and Thoughtful Female Guide:  Kanha Roth

We toured temples with Kanha while we visited Siem Reap in October 2012 and found her English and knowledge to be outstanding.  She put together a thoughtful itinerary and arranged for a careful, professional driver.  It is good to see a smart, young woman like Kanha working as a guide in what apears to be a mostly male oriented culture.  She was comfortable with foreigners and related well with us; our understading of Khmer culture was enhanced by her insights.  I highly recommend her.

Sorm Son: Charming Angkor Guide

Sorm Son was everything we were looking for in a tour guide...and more!   Here are some of the major positives.

--*Sorm Son is native to Cambodia / Siem Reap and gave some amazing insights and perspective into the history and current life in Cambodia.  We asked him some questions about his own life, and he was gracious enough to tell us about it.  So interesting, and really amazing to hear all he has been through (e.g., Buddhist monk for 12 years) and how hard he is working to make a better life for him and his family. He is extremely knowledgeable of the sites - he gave us the history of all of the sites and some great background/context.

--*Sorm Son is well educated (4 years university graduate) and knowledgeable about the world and economics / politics, and his English is very good.  He is an experienced, liscensed tour guide for Siem Reap.

--*He took great care of us throughout the day.  He provided cold water, and towels, took us to a great lunch spot, altered the tour based on our preferences, and even offered to show us around the market after the tour was over.

--*Sorm Son is truly charming.  We had many laughs throughout the day, as he told us some very interesting stories behind the temple carvings and was generally witty and fun to be around.  By the end of the trip, we really felt as though Sorm Son was our new friend.

***I highly recommend Sorm Son as a wonderful tour guide, and more.  You will not be disappointed!!

Kimrom RAN: Really wonderful Angkor Wat Female guide for Photographers and Adventuresome explorers

www.HiddenAngkor.us
Ms. Kimrom RAN is a certified freelance guide located in in Siem Reap. If you are going to Angkor Wat you want her as a guide!. Kimrom has been a  certified guide since 2007 and hosted 2 Google guys from Silicon Valley on an amazing 5 day adventure through the great temple complex and showed  secret, hidden, out of the way jungle temples, rarely visited. Her reference was a Canadian associate who raved about her adventures while she was working for the famous Hotel de La Paix. She speaks excellent English, having studied at the University of Toronto.

Angkor Wat is her hometown and was her playground since birth.

Contact her by email rkimrom@gmail.com and tell her a little about yourselves, how many days you would be in Siem Reap, etc. She will send a detailed flexible itinerary with multiple hotel recommendations. Kimrom is not a booking agent, so you should book the hotels directly. Kimrom will provide all transportation.

She knows Photography, and her custom itinerary included an amazing amount of detail about times for each temple, the best lighting angles, which gates to enter, and which to exit to avoid crowds. She arranged moonlight shots, dawn shows, and sunset shots. Inside the temples she tooks you quickly through the ruins to choice vantage points for the best art work. She can arrange a driver (car or tuk tuk), pick you ups and drop offs at the airport (and see you off). She provides endless cold bottled water for you, and takes care of you completely.

The group explored hidden unrestored temples, traveled to a mountain top Elephant temple almost forgotten. Kimrom's knowledge about archeology, photography, lighting, ancient and current Cambodian history, and her off the beaten track dining suggestions made Angkor adventure priceless.

Please contact her at rkimrom@gmail.com or by phone (her English is excellent) +(855) 97 7629121 . She will never overbook, over charge, or swap out guides, and you will be constantly thrilled by your adventure in the jungle.

Borey 'James' Phang

April 2012

James, from Asia Travel Needs, was our guide for Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. He was polite and respectful at all times. He has excellent English and was willing to vary the trip to suit our individual needs. As a Siem Reap local, and a guide for over 12 years, James has an intricate knowledge of the best way to see these wonderful sights, and an awareness of where and when other groups might be in busy areas so we could see the sights without the hassle of other tourists.

Asia Travel Needs staff were always willing to assist and made the whole trip exciting and enjoyable. They can be contacted on +855 63 966 769, info@asiatravelneeds.com or via their website at asiatravelneeds.com

I can't wait to go back and have no hesitation to ask for James as our guide again.

Mr Syden Von, Siem Reap

Syden is a professional, fully-licensed tour guide based in Siem Reap. He is a friendly, streetwise and knowledgeable guide with formal training received in UNESCO, APSARA (the Cambodian heritage authority), and who studied archeology in Siem Reap. There are several reasons why I want to recommend his service. In addition to his easy going personality and knowledge of the Angkor Vat Complex, Syden is committed to helping disadvanged communities in the Siem Reap area, by providing teaching equipment to schools, he is also engaged in clean-water development projects for poor village communities, which involves digging wells in Kom Ru Village, Sronal Commune, Krolanh Disctrict. Altogether Syden manages or is directly involved in three projects of this kind, in addition to helping orphans. His website documents these facts. The very fact that a Cambodian national takes such initiative in a country where volunteers tend to come from overseas is worth mentioning and should be commended. So when you hire Syden to visit the temples, when you get back to your hotel after a harrowing schedule of temple viewing, cycling, bird-watching, or from a day-trip in a "farming tour", you might reflect  that 10% of your money paid to Syden for this service will go to the right causes, with no bureaucracy between his actions and the recipients.

Syden can package tours for you, including arranging transportation, interpreting – in addition to his many qualities, experience and qualifications, Syden has a remarkable standard of English.

Rany Team (Licensed English-Speaking Tour Guide)

When Rany Team meets your incoming flight near midnight with a big welcoming smile, as if he wanted to be nowhere else at that moment, you just know that your time in Cambodia is going to be special.  His enthusiasm, knowledge, experience, and flexibility may well make it one of a traveler's most memorable experiences.  Rany was selected by the Cambodian Government Tourist Office to train to be a licensed guide in 2001.  Training included two years at the University, followed by three month's training at temples before becoming a licensed guide in 2003.  He knows the history, religion, and mythology depicted in temple ornaments, sculptures, and bas reliefs - especially the bas-relief galleries of Angkor Wat.  Rany is well-versed in the history and culture of the Khmer peoples and also has in-depth experience in Cambodian rural life because he was born in Kohpen Village, Kham Pong Cham Province and still returns there to help his family with harvesting.

Rany carefully selects the best times to see all the major temples, finds wonderful local restaurants every day, and can get a stageside table for you at a special dinner-folkloric show and will stay to explain the stories the dancers are portraying.  He'll take you, by request, to many special places in Siem Reap such as the Angkor National Museum, local artisan shops, and markets as well as customizing tours in other parts of Cambodia .   Rany's passion for his country and its history along with his engaging personality make him a standout guide.  Rany will customize a wonderful tour for you!

Soeun Saron, Licensed and fully-qualified English-Speaking Tour Guide.

My partner and I visited Siem Reap for five days in January 2013 and hired Saron for three full days - car, driver and himself as guide. The total cost was $189 (boat fees and temple pass are extra) and that included airport pickup and drop off and free chilled water!! It also included being collected at 0500 if you want to do the whole sunrise over Angkor Wat thing!  In our four weeks in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, hiring Saron was the single best decision we made. I am a History teacher from Ireland and know quite a lot about the history of South-East Asia but I was completely blown away by the breadth and depth of Saron's knowledge. Whether it was interpreting the depiction of Hindu mythology on wall carvings, guiding you into the perfect position for a photograph angle, explaining the complicated relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam post-Pol Pot and the reintegration of the Khmer Rouge into the Cambodian political scene, the wildlife of the lake areas ... I could go on and on. His English is perfect  and he is incredibly generous with his time, information and help. We visited the main sitesbut also tiny little remote sites where we were the only people there, a boat trip on the lake that avoided the more hideous touristy areas. He is best contacted by email at  saronan@camintel.com.

Vanny Chhim

vanny_angkor@hotmail.com

Vanny was recommended in the Readers Suggestions column of the LA Times the morning of departure. Figured it was serendipitous and emailed him. Excellent guide. Very entertaining and knowledgeable. Could over-hear other guides and they were not imparting half the information that Vanny was so entertainingly doing. He also sets up the tuk tuk with his friend who was an excellent driver....which you will appreciate when you get moving around the dry-wash back roads. Please contact with any questions....screen name 'pegnbuck'

Nok Kachhel

Certified Angkor Wat Tour Guide with driver    +855 (0)12 959409   nokkachhel@yahoo.com

Highly recommended to us by friends.  Used him for three half-day tours and were pleased with his knowledge and manner of conduct.  Friends on subsequent trips have also been pleased with his service.  He can provide a vehicle with driver.

Chhin, a well-informed guide, fluent in English

It's been a while since we visited Siem Reap but I still have no hesitation in recommending our wonderful personal guide, Keo Somchhin, usually known as Chhin. With his airconditioned car and driver, he made our visits to the temples a delight. He re-arranged the original proposed itinerary to suit our interests and always seemed to have fascinating things to tell us, which went well beyond what one could learn from a guide book. He introduced us to authentic local food as part of the visit to Angkor Wat, directed us to bargain shopping, and took us to places beyond the usual tourist attractions. As a delightful extra activity on the day for which we had made no plans, he organised a tour for us to Tonle Sap, complete with a visit to the amazing floating village.

A really good guide makes a tremendous difference to how much one can enjoy a short visit to a place like Siem Reap, which is so rich in interesting alternatives that it can be difficult to make good choices without local knowledge.

Chhin can be contacted at chhinangkor@yahoo.com

We strongly recommend him.

Dine Tuy - Excellent English speaking tour guide

Email: reatreyankorvilla@yahoo.com

Phone: 855 (0) 12 24 24 83 or 855 (0) 88 7919483

Dine was my guide for about a week in the Siem Reap area including Ankor Wat. He speaks excellent English and was very knowledgeable about Siem Reap, the temples in Ankor Wat and Cambodian culture. He can arrange for a driver and during my time with him we always had a nice air-conditioned car although I am sure he can arrange tuk tuk transportation as well. Dine knew of some great places to each for delicious Khmer food and he was a pleasure to spend a week with. I also believe he speak Japanese and Thai for those looking for a guide in those languages. I would highly recommend Dine to anyone who is looking for an excellent guide in Siem Reap!

Chet Yousroeun - Excellent Angkor Wat Guide

We have just returned (2013)  to UK from Angkor Wat (Siem Reap), having been looked after for three days by “Mr Chet”, plus driver.

Mr Chet was excellent and had a deep knowledge of the many temples visited.  There is a lot to see, but we always felt that the important parts of each temple were shown and his knowledge was encyclopaedic – he used to be a teacher, which must have helped.  He was flexible and happy to take control or to work to our needs and at our pace, when necessary.  Air-conditioned vehicle, water on ice, places for lunch arranged, always on time – we could just concentrate on the experience.

His own history and his real understanding of the more recent issues that Cambodia has faced made him a fascinating person to listen to.  Mr. Chet’s contact links are : email:chetyousroeun@yahoo.com and cellphone number:+855 97 666 5138. Webiste: http://www.angkorwatservices.com/

Kao Virak : The best tour guide in all of Cambodia- Fluent English,Historical Expert, Cultural Ambassador, Accommodating, and FUN!

Make the most of your time in Siem Reap or elsewhere in Cambodia by connecting up with Mr. Virak. My family just finished a four day tour around Siem Reap that was booked privately with Virak. After reading numerous glowing reviews of his services (and personality) on both tripadvisor and elsewhere, I decided to email him to get an itinerary and a price quote. Not only did he respond in minutes with a detailed tour plan, but the price he quoted us for our private, personalized tour was much more reasonable then the packaged 'group tour' organized by most hotels and guiding agencies.

Virak is extremely knowledgeable about Cambodia's history (both ancient and modern) and very passionate about sharing his culture with others. He is fluent in English, totally trustworthy, flexible (constantly aware of his clients needs and adjusting the tour accordingly) and, most importantly, Virak is absolutely committed to improving the lives of his fellow Cambodian people.

While he has very limited means at his disposal, what he has accomplished is quite impressive. He has given seminars educating the youth about the dangers of HIV and is in the process of constructing a small single room school for teaching English to impoverished rural youth. This dedication and passion for creating social change comes across in his tours, as he is able to provide both a deep historical and anthropological perspective, but also a unique understanding of the social issues of modern Cambodia: The Kingdom of Wonder!Kao Virak

Mr. Bun: English-speaking licensed tour guide

We engaged Mr. Bun to guide us around the Angkor Archaeological Park and the Tonle Sap lake for 3 days and it was a good decision as he is a very knowledgeable guide who could tell us about the temples in a straightforward and succinct manner. He also picked out good and interesting spots for picture-taking and helped us take numerous group and individual shots. Mr. Bun was also punctual and accommodating as he was flexible with the itinerary and also helped recommend good places for dinner. Additionally, he warned us against going to a puppet show that does not live up to expectations but we ignored his advice to our own detriment. With everything from transport to itinerary well taken care of coupled with excellent service, we had a very satisfying experience in Siem Reap with a polite and trustworthy tour guide!

Mr. Bun Hak - Licensed english speaking tour guide

In February 2013  we hired Mr. Bun Hak for a three day tour of Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and many other wonderful temple sites within two hours of Siem Reap.  He was very friendly, well- informed about the history of the temples and the various rulers and was always punctual. His specialty is somehow avoiding the crowds, even at the most popular temples. We often parked a short distance away, walked along quiet pathways and slowly came upon the famous temples, entering through the back door, only to end our tour where most other tourists began there's - the front temple doors. When the crowds appeared, we were just about finished our tour of the site! It was magical how he kept to a schedule but seemed to always have time for another question or a detour. I still don't know how he did it. I know that a trip to Angkor Wat is a once in a lifetime visit for most people. Be sure to hire a licensed guide. I can definitely recommend Bun Hak as a good one. His website is www.angkorhelpingtour.com/

Mr. Ros Samath - Licensed english speaking tour guide

In August 2013, we hired Mr Samath as our tour guide for our day tour of Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples. He spoke good english, was charming and funny as he explained to us about Cambodia's and Siem Reap's rich history in regards to the temples. His suggestions to start early in the morning and head to the smaller, lesser crowded temples first was spot on, as we were able to avoid the crowds mostly.. until Angkor (which was busy and crowded anytime, anyday). Additionally, Mr Samath was very flexible and accomodating to our timings, and our wants to spend more times in certain areas of the temple. He seemed to know some short-cuts to avoid the crowds and that helped us greatly. He was also very friendly with other tourist groups and would willingly lend a hand to help them if asked! Plus, he was a very experienced photographer! I have so many great photos with my family thanks to him!

I highly recommend Mr Samath as a tour guide.

Mr Minear Chim - Licensed English speaking tour guide

In my first trip to Siem Reap in August 2013, I was recommended the services of Mr Minear Chim by my friend who engaged his services when she was in  Siem Reap the year before. He is a guide with a lot of passion for sharing about the history of all the temples and attractions that we go to. He speaks very fluent english and amidst sharing the facts and history of the country, he never failed to keep my friend and I entertained when we were on our car rides around the countryside with jokes and stories of the life of the people of the beautiful country of Cambodia. Not to mentioned that he was extremely attentive and patient to our needs constantly making sure that he was not walking too fast or if we needed to take a break or offering a drink and helping hand with our stuffs.

Minear is also very thoughtful as he arranges for the driver to wait for us at locations which is most convenient for us and far away from all the other tourists crowd. He also planned our trip for us perfectly so that we have very little waiting and queuing time and avoid bulk of the tour groups. He brought us to places which were more localised and less touristy. He is the guide to look for to see the real siem reap beyond all the tourist locations.

I highly recommend Mr Minear as your guide.

Sim Licensed, English speaking tour guide

Sim  was a great tour guide to have around Angkor Wat. He is reliable and very knowledgeable about not only Angor Wat, but all of Cambodian history. He answered all of our uestions and even told us about his own life so we could understand more about Cambodia. He knew exactly what spots to go to and the best times to go so we could make the most of our short time there. Some of the perks of Sim also include his iPad! He has tons of pictures and all kinds of statistics and information on there to show in addition to what you see at the temples. He has put a lot of time and effort into being a good tour guide and it shows. The BEST part though was that he also was a talented photographer--he took my Tripadvisor picture! He knew awesome spots of where to stand and he also took them for us so my friend and I could both be in the picture. I would definitely reccomend Sim for your tour guide around Angkor Wat.  WONDERFUL PRIVATE ENGLISH SPEAKING GUIDE, Mony Pech

Mr. Mony has run his own guide service for over 10 years and can provide his own clean, new transportation and excellent driver.   He speaks terrific english and knows Angkor Watt and Siem Reap in great detail.   He knew how to avoid crowds, where to take interesting photos, where to stop on the grounds for a wonderful Cambodian lunch and much more.  I was pleasantly surprised by how well he knew the various sites and could give insights and suggestions.  At the same time, he was flexible to adjusting plans and ever-ready to fulfill every client need or question.  On separate occasions, he has guided Hilary Rodham Clinton when she was Secretary of State and Bill Clinton after he left office.  A great resource to maximize knowledge during a short stay in Siem Reap.  He can be reached at: mony_pech@yahoo.com

Angkor Thom Services

I am now a good friend of the business owner of Angkor Thom Services in Siem Reap, Cambodia. My wife and I are Australians, who visited the Angkor Region in May 2012 and was enchanted by the experience. We stayed for 4 days.  We promised the owner and ourselves that we would return, which in March 2014, we did, for a 15 day holiday and photographic shoot.

I had employed the business as a photographic guide, upon recommendation of a well-known photographer in Asia.  The services that they offer, is that you will be driven, in their air-conditioned car, to any destinations within the Angkor region and Siem Reap for $25 per day (negotiable). This includes many varied dinner venues, either we chose, or they did. If we wanted to go further afield, outside the Angkor Park, they will negotiate a higher price, to cover their higher expenditure. IMPORTANT. Additional to the vehicle price, we were supplied with a guide, for approximately $25 extra per day, taking us to all the best locations in many temples in and around Angkor for taking photographs, they suggested the best time of the day to visit each venue taking into account lighting as well as when the least number of tourists would be present. They have a full and comprehensive knowledge of the History of the sights of Cambodia, they say it has been passed down from father to son in each generation. The guide will be the same as your driver in most cases.

On both occasions the business excelled all expectations and only once were they ten minutes late, because the guide’s baby daughter had hidden the car keys (which we thought was hilarious), on every other occasion he was waiting for us to appear.  I therefore recommend “Angkor Thom Services” to you, you will not be disappointed with the business. The web address is www.angkorthomservices.com

Last year May 2013 we visited Siem Reap in Cambodia for a three day holiday to explore the sights.  A very good friend who had recently been to Siem Reap recommended us to engage the  services of Angkor Thom Services.  He met us at the hotel when we arrived in Siam Reap and we discussed a number of tour possibilities to suit the length of our stay and good places to eat. Being a good photographer himself, he advised the best times for photo opportunities and arranged the tour to suit our needs and physical capabilities.  He was very courteous , very safe driver and very punctual and we believe he showed us the best of Siem Reap in the short time we had to visit his beautiful country. His fees were very fair, most were around $25.00 US per day depending on how far afield we ventured.  Some extras negotiated based on distance.  His knowledge of the history of the areas we visited was just amazing and we were not hurried or rushed in any way.   We just went along at a pace that was comfortable for us.  He taxied us to the airport and on the way we visited his home and met his beautiful children.  He is very proud of them. I would have no hesitation in recommending Angkor Thom Services in Siem Reap to anyone visiting  Siem Reap in Cambodia and wanting to see the best it has to offer with the best guide / driver at the best prices.  During our tour we feel we had made a new and very good friend in Cambodia.          Affectionately from the ‘Rain Gods’

Sovandy – A BRILLIANT ENGLISH SPEAKING GUIDE

If you want a reliable, well-informed English speaking guide for Angkor Wat and the surrounding areas, look no further. Sovandy was recommended to me by a friend and our group was not disappointed. He somehow replied to my initial email within about 5 minutes and explained what we could do in the time we had available. Unlike many of the guides, Sovandy has his own car and he was waiting at our hotel as agreed on the first morning.

Sovandy studied tourism and English at Phonm Pen University and has an incredibly impressive level of knowledge, not just about the temples and their history, but more general facts about Cambodia and its people. Where possible, he helped us skip queues and he knew all the best spots to avoid the big groups of tourists. He was also very handy at taking photos.

Sovandy helped make our time at Angkor Wat very memorable and he also does tours round the rest of Cambodia.

Mr. Bun: English-speaking licensed tour guide

Based on a recent trip in April 20th-21st, 2014

Excellent service. Quick and effective response by email before the trip. Punctuality at its best. It was discussed previously what the itinerary would be and his suggestions about routing and timings for each day (2 day sightseeing) were correct. The tour was with colleague (Jim) since Mr. Bun had a previous commitment but Jim was excellent, with knowledge and went along pretty well with our two small children. Previously the thought to do this in a tuk tuk, but it was a good choice to have the private car with AC with Mr. Bun since the roads are sometimes long and depending on the weather it can get hot. So having the Ac was a definitely an advantage for the family.

Mr. Bun is very responsible and cares for good customer service. Even though Jim was the tour guide, Mr. Bun took the time to check on us at the hotel the evening before the beginning of the tour. He also recommended a nice dinner traditional dancing show for which he helped to make reservations. We were nicely surprised when Mr.Bun showed up at the restaurant to make sure we had the reserved table and that everything was going according to plan.

His email address and full name are norak buntin: norakbun88@gmail.com

Highly recommend his services, Cecilia.

Pin Vannak - Very experienced, reliable, licensed tour guide

I have been to Siem Reap three times in six months, I got lucky with my first visit after a highly rated guide I booked cancelled on me, most likely because he scored a bigger group after confirming with me. My second choice should have been my first, I contacted Mr Pin Vannnak, and he made sure he was free before confirming with me and assured me he would be there for me. That is when i knew I was in good hands.

The next best thing about Pin Vannak is that he speaks english fluently.

And last but not least, he is as knowledgable as any in Siem Reap, of course he is an expert on the temples, but also history and culture of Cambodia.

He has done everything for  each time I have come to Siem Reap from excellent tours of the temples, to arranging a meal with a great family, to tours of other parts of Cambodia. He is extremely flexible and can seemingly adjust easily to your wishes.

So from a perspective of a traveller who has used the same guide at least five times. I can say each time, he has been truly great.
