The tuk tuks are available everywhere. So no troubles there. They tend to want to charge more than Vientiane, but of course negotiable.

Bikes are available everywhere, usually including the hotels, and walking is quite cheap. Hats a necessity and umbrellas (fellas do not be proud) are wondrerful .

Transport out to the waterfull by van or tuk tuk on good road and about 45 minutes. The falls are good and the water is clean. Would reccommend an pair of sandles or old sneakers to go in the water as in many parts quite rocky and slippery.

The bus and or van to or fro Vientiane is a nine hour trip at best. Over the mountains very windy (very) for half and very bumpy the other half. Not great sights and lot of stops. The flight, though more expensive, cost around 90-100 but takes just on 40 minutes. Could be the best money you spend.
