Bachkovo monastery is about 30 km from Plovdiv. Before the monastery You pass the town Asenovgrad, a beautiful place just before the mountain. Lots, of churches there, some of which quite old.

After Asenovgrad You enter Bachovo, where the famous monastery is placed. This is one of the biggest (second after the Rila monastery) and most beautiful Bulgarian monasteries. It was build in 1083.

Lots of people go there all the year, especially in spring and in times of the monastery days. Usually after visiting the monastery natives go for a walk and picnic through the path up to the mountain. In spring You can watch a cascade of waterfalls just a few minutes walk on that path.

You can buy there home made berry and other jam, local spices, etc.
