Summer in Odessa is undoubtedly the best time to visit. The sea is mild and warm, the nightclubs in the Arcadia district are filled with people, fresh fruits and vegetables are in abundance sold at the "Privoz" market. So you can get the best from your stay.
In early autumn the weather is comfortable as well, and Odessa is well worth a visit. The city's birthday on September 2 usually features prominent local and western groups, singers and other celebrities performing on stage opposite the Potemkin Steps. Late October and November nights start getting chilly and rains are more frequent.
Winter is not too cold as the temperature quite seldom drops below freezing. However, if it does there is usually very little snow. Around the New Year's eve the main streets and squares in Odessa are beautifully lit and decorated.
Spring season starts with rather cool breezes in March that may at times last until mid-April. On April 1 the city hosts its annual humour festival with hundreds of thousands of locals and visitors attending various shows and programmes.The beginning of May is famous for its traditional Mayday picnics and outdoor activities (the mayovka) which usually mark the beginning of sun-bathing and swimming season.
