This is a very lovely park just minutes by car from the Annapolis Historic district, with many amenities for the outdoor enthusiast.  With 340 acres, the park features six miles of paved trails for hiking and biking, visitor center, grandstand for entertainment, ice skating rink (under repair), a children's playground, pavillions for picnics, two fenced dog play areas (one for small pups, the other for larger breeds), a dog beach, and kayak and paddle boat rentals.

The park borders the South River and there are several beautiful overlooks to enjoy the views.  There is a $5 fee to enter the park (closed Tuesdays), and residents or frequent visitors can buy an annual pass that also gives access to several other parks in Anne Arundel County.  NOTE:  The entry fee is per car; pedestrians and cyclists do not pay to enter the park.  The park holds many special events, and in these cases, the entry fee is often waived.  There are art and craft shows, summer concerts that feature almost every musical genre, dog parades and competitions, and many fundraisers.  If you have a chance to visit, you will not be disappointed.
