There is only one phone company in the Cooks called Telecom Cook Islands.  International calls to NZ cost $5.00NZ for talk up to 1 hour duration, extra service/connection fees apply.  Calls to Australia,  USA,  Canada, UK cost $10NZ for talk up to 1 hour, plus an additional connection fee.  Cheapest option to make overseas calls is to purchase a Kia Orana phone-card from Telecom, or convenience stores.

Beware of the cost of using credit card telephones in the Cook Islands.  When using these phones you have to follow a menu system which asks you to type in your credit card details and then dial the number you are trying to reach. At no time are you told the cost of the call and it isn't printed on the phone, so you'll only find out when your credit card bill comes in...

Other Telecom Cook Islands services, include purchase of  SIM cards and topups to use Telecom Cook Islands services.  Internet cafes and WIFI hotspots can be found around Rarotonga; with Telecom Cook Islands internet cafe open from 7:00am until 11:00pm 7 days per week. Teleshop located at CITC shopping centre in Avarua is open from 8:00am 'til 4:00pm Monday to Friday with early closing at 1:00pm Saturdays . Both Telecom and Teleshop supply SIM cards and topups.  WiFi cards, Kokanet cards and Telecom C Is topups are also sold at a number of retail outlets around Rarotonga.
