Day cruise or Overnight cruiseHalong is 3.5 hours by car from Hanoi, thus minus two way transfer time, a day cruise actually means few hours on the water. With a day cruise, the operators will take you to see just some rock formations and a cave near the shore then back. If you have time, spend at least 2 or 3 days here.
The best time to visit HalongThe best time to visit Halong Bay is from mid March to May or during October and November (cool, dry, sunny weather). June to September period is very hot and subject to rain (mainly short downpours) and few occasional typhoons, but you might get good rate during this low season time. From December to March, it is cold, cloudy and foggy for most days, still some clear sunny days can be expected in between. Be weatherwise as weather decides a good or bad experience in Halong.
