There are quite a few well regarded Thai cooking classes available in Chiang Mai - these are just a few.

Most day classes are about 4-6 hours in length, running from 9am to 4pm and cost 800฿ - 1,800฿. They will normally include collection from your accommodation and a trip to the market where ingredients are explained and purchased. Most if not all cooking classes are family (child) friendly. A Lot of Thai Home Cooking Class have small intimate classes. Yui is an instructor and owner; Kwan, her husband, designed a nice cook book. She has a unique style of teaching and is a highly experienced Thai cook. They have a lovely VW 1974 van which can collect you from your accommodation and deliver you to their house where the courses have been run since 2001.

Basil Thai Cookery School: The class is limited to only 6 people per class (smallest class in Chiang Mai) you will have plenty of time to get intouch with  Boom the owner and instructor. You will have to decide what to learn for 7 dishes. You will learn Thai cooking from the scratch and will have to eat all the dishes you've cook (or take it back home).

The Chilli Club Cooking Academy at Eagle House 2:  Classes are small, and…there is only one class going on at a time. At other schools, several classes are taught at the same time with a lot of extra people at the site.  Students have a wide variety from which to choose their several dishes to cook. Once the dishes are chosen, the instructor, Mr. Sutt, leads everyone to the market.  The class is not just about cooking. It is about Thai style and about presentation, as well.  Learn how to make a tomato rose and cucumber leaves with which to decorate the plate. At the end of the class, get presented with a beautiful, professional cookbook, including the recipes for  all the  dishes.

Chiang Mai Thai Cottage Home Cookery School offers a restful cooking experience in a Thai home. Pick your ingredients up at the local market and out of their organic garden. Your guide helps you all along the way. Exquisite dishes! You really learn how to cook Thai food. Check out the half-day and evening classes too. Classes are small or can even be private, and collection from the airport or hotel is included. 4 hour courses start at 600฿.

Chiang Mai Thai Farm Cooking School  this cooking school is the first and original Thai cooking school with its own truly organic farm, just outside of the city. You get to visit a local market on the way to the school. Afterwards they take you to their farm where they grow their own ingredients such as organic herbs, vegetables and fruits. Besides their full day courses at the farm, they also offer evening classes in their cooking school in the old city of Chiang Mai.

Pantawan Cooking – a luxury cooking school, located 15mins away from old city, free round trip transfer. Local fresh market trip is also part of the program. The menu is different each day with themes like Northern food, Royal Thai cuisine etc.  They also have an organic farm where they grow herbs and ingredients for the cooking class.

Siam Rice Thai Cookery School where each day-long class has a different menu, and includes cooking instructions, a market tour and transportation, recipe book, eating the meal you prepare and a certificate of your achievement.

Thai Kitchen Cookery Centre & Thai Chocolate Cookery Centre where they make a point of using high quality organic ingredients and hold classes in pleasant surroundings under a banana tree canopy. After they collect you from your hotel, they take you to the local market to select the ingredients, giving an explanation and educating on the produce with tips for picking vegetable and different types of noodles and rice.

Smart Cook Thai Cookery School They will pick you up at your hotel, then you go for a 20 minute train ride and then ride bicycles for about 2 miles to the school.  There is a garden in the back and the instructor, Surakarn Sithirak, takes you into the garden and teaches you how to pick out they best vegetables and herbs. You have a choice of several different menus to choose from and when the day is done you get a certificate and a cookbook with all the recipes that they use at the school.
