The main attractions to visit in Marrakech are:

  1. Place Djemaâ el Fna: the biggest square in the African continent and the heart of the old city
  2. The Souks
  3. Bahia Palace
  4. Saadian Tombs
  5. Musee de Marrakech
  6. Ben Youssef Medrassa
  7. Jardin Majorelle
  8. Jardin Menara

If you're not a fan of museums do not be put off by the "Museum" of Marrakech as it is worth a visit for the building alone, which is stunningly impressive.  If you're interested in art then that is an added bonus as there are some amazing works of art displayed, you may also be interested in the Moroccan items although there is no English labelling or information so it's more for visual pleasure.

You have the option to purchase a combined ticket (60 dirhams) allowing you access to Medersa Ibn Ben Youseff - the Theological college - and another site (which I will have to add the name of when I find it).  The Medrasa is brilliant and is definitely worth a wander - it's peaceful and a beautiful building, and interesting to see how the students lived - so it pays to buy the combined ticket.

All of the three sites are within a few minutes walk of each other at the northern edge of the Souks and can take up anything from 1/2 hour to a few hours of your time.

The Bahia Palace is a palace and a set of gardens located in Marrakech, Morocco. It was built in the late 19th century, intended to be the greatest palace of its time. The name means 'brilliance'. As in other buildings of the period in other countries, it was intended to capture the essence of the Islamic and Moroccan style.
