Imlil is 60 km south of Marrakech off the road from Marrakech to Tarroudant just beyond the village of Asni. There is no bus service to Imlil but there are Grand Taxis that will do the journey.

The area was opened up in the 1940's under the French and a number of refuges were built by the Club Alpine Francais.

The village of Imlil is now connected to the paved road system and has electricity.

Imlil can be visited for the day or there is a variety of accomodation at all budget levels the best being the Kasbah Du Toubkal, but it has no road access, access being by foot or by mule (there is a reception in the Village) they also, in respect of the local values do not have an alcohol  licence but guests are welcome to BYO.
