Roatan is only about 35 miles from mainland Honduras, making it a quick flight when coming in from the country. Direct flights come in from the United States as well however, including the following cities: Miami, Houston, Newark and Atlanta; these flights arrive at the Roatan Airport ( RTB).

Passports and return tickets are required for entry into Roatan. Upon leaving you will most likely be subjected to a departure fee of about $35.00. American dollars are readily accepted. Many cruise ships make Roatan a destination. Keep in mind that arriving on a cruise ship, due to updated regluations, will require a passport as well.

Another option for getting to and from the Honduras mainland is to take the ferry from La Ceiba. It runs both ways twice daily and the cost is very reasonable in comparison to flying. For current schedules check the TripAdvisor Honduras forum and do a search or post a question.
