The most incredible attraction that Queenstown has to offer is its beautiful scenery. Everywhere you look, you will find pristine mountains and lakes. In recent years, many fans of the books and movies The Lord of the Rings have traveled to Queenstown to see where parts of the movie were filmed. Just outside of the city you will be able to find areas where scenes were captured. This has been a big drawing point for commercial travel and tourism for the city. A lot of tourists also like to go into the mountains for the walking trails, the jet boat rides up the Dart  river into the national park. take the 3/4 drive to the top of the lake to see the small town of Glenorchy. The scenery just gets better and better. A number of  out door sports can be done up there. These sports include, but are not limited to skiing, mountain biking, and kayaking, sky diving and horse riding. Queenstown has some great stores where you can buy supplies and gear for outdoor activities. You can also rent gear if need be. The Gibston valley of wines  has some great wineries that you can visit. You can see what it is like to make wine, and afterwards you can go through a wine tasting. Tourists also like to take day trips to Arrowtown, a historic town that is about 15 kilometers from Queenstown. You can get there either by car or by bus, car is better. There are also wine and garden tour groups that go there daily.
