There are numerous cultural attractions that can be found in and around the city of Tampere, which include various museums, art galleries, theaters, a number of historical landmarks, and more.
The Hiekka Art Museum is located in the home of the late Kustaa Hiekka, who on top of being a goldsmith and industrialist, was a collector of many things. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Thursday from 3pm to 6pm, Sunday from noon to 3pm, and is closed the rest of the week. Visits during other times can be arranged by calling ahead of time. Guided tours are also available by calling ahead. There are numerous Art Galleries located around the city of Tampere, most of which are open to the general public. There are also two Theaters in Tampere, but it should be noted that most plays are performed in Finnish.
