The climate in Tampere is temperate, which means that the city experiences four, distinct season changes.  Although it can be visited throughout the year, the summer months are much more comfortable to visit during than the winter months.

On average, the hottest months of the year are June and July, during which time the daily high temperatures will generally hover in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s.  On rare occasions, the temperatures may reach the 80’s, but this is as hot as it gets.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally drop to the low 50’s and upper 40’s.

The coldest months of the year on average are January and February, during which time the daily high temperatures will only reach the low to mid 20’s.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally drop to the low teens, and many times falling to the single digits.

Not only are the winter months extremely cold, but the days are very short.  In contrast, during the summer months in Tampere, the sun will only set after midnight and it never gets completely dark.

Tampere is not a very wet city, but the rainiest months of the year are July and August.
