People who have never been to Estoril before will want to make a stop at one of the two tourist offices in the area before setting out on their vacation. Both offices have English-speaking staff and various free publications such as the “What’s in Estoril” magazine, guides to festivals and facilities in Estoril, and maps of the region. The Cascais office is at Rua Visconde da Luz, 14 (tel: +351 21 486 82 04) and the Estoril office is in the Arcadas do Parque (tel: +351 21 466 38 13). Both are open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm and Sundays from 10am to 6pm.

Even if you are not wild about gambling, the Casino Estoril still merits a visit, as it is the largest casino on the continent. This is also a prime place to mingle with locals and other tourists in the evenings, as there are lounges and bars, performance areas for concerts, ballets and the light, and other entertainment venues.

It is not particularly important for visitors to rent a car to get into or around Estoril, as the public transportation system here is cheap and will cover most of your needs. The town itself is small and walking will get you most places, while traveling to and from Lisbon can be done quite conveniently on the railway.
