Regular ferry service runs between São Miguel and most other islands, as well as between the islands of Faial, Pico and São Jorge, and between Terceira and Graciosa.

All islands except Corvo have bus and taxi transportation. Rental car services are available on the eight main islands. Taxi and sightseeing services are available on the island of Corvo. Public uses are available on most of the islands.

Buses travel regularly during weekdays between the main towns and one can get a bus timetable from the Angra do Heroismo or Praia da Vitória tourist office.
There is a bus around the island every weekday, M to F, starts at 11:45 a.m. from the bus stop near the central tourist office.
On M to SAT there is a bus that goes from the ferry dock in Madalena at 08:45 a.m. and travels along the north coast to the end of the island, arriving at 11:00 a.m. Another bus d at 12:25 o.m. and returns to Madalena along the southern coast, arriving back at the ferry docks at 3 p.m.
On W and F only, it is possible to travel from Velas to Calheta and back along the north coast road. The bus departs from the square in front of the main church in Velas at 08:30 a.m. , and from Calheta at 15:00 for the return.
On M, W and F there is a bus from Lajes to Santa Cruz which leaves at 09:00 a.m. from in front of the City Hall. The trip takes around 40 minutes. The return bus leaves
