A number of festivals are held in the Algarve region throughout the year. A few highlights of the Faro events calendar include:

- Procisão do Enterro do Senhor -- relgious procession held annually on Good Friday before Easter.
Apr - May 2009
- International Music Festival - - Castelo Branco hosts the annual spring International Music Festival of Castelo Branco, with a range of chamber concerts, piano and quartet recitals around the town. There are also concerts concentrating on traditional music, including the distinctive Portuguese fado. June
- Feira de Arte e Artenasanato -- this arts fair features handicrafts endemic to the Algarve region.
July

Arte Viva - 11 & 12 July - Musey de Sao Bras - This annual festival of live art and music gets underway in the early evening both days, and lasts long into the night with International music groups, food and dancing. Artists on-site to demonstrate their skills, street entertainers such as stilt walkers and fire-eaters, and even a 'Kids' Corner' so Mom and Dad can have a break. Even a fashion show and avant-garde theatre group. Admission € 4.
- Concentração Internacional de Motos -- during this four-day, three-night event, Faro is overrun by motorcycle enthusiasts. Parades, concerts, food, and bike competitions are all features of this event.

- City holiday -- this event celebrate's Faro's cultural history.

- Feira de Santa Iria -- this religious festival features amusement rides, music concerts, and a market featuring local goods.
