The Historic Museum should definately be the first stop for anyone visiting the beautifull city of Haarlem. This small museum is situated in the charming street Groot Heiligland, just in front of the famous Frans Hals Museum. The history of Haarlem comes to live in a 10 minute introduction film (which will also be shown in english) and a collection of historic objects.

The new exhibit about poverty in Haarlem called 'Geen cent te makken' will open on May 26 and will be on display until November 4, 2012.  It shows the story of poverty from the Middle Ages to modern times. How and from whom did people get help in difficult  times? Personal stories and a varied selection of objects will illustrate this interesting exhibit.
