Two museums that shows the avant garde in art to the Swiss Alps are the Foto Museum Winterhur and Tinguely Museum.

People at Foto Museum Winterhur believe that photographs tell stories about the world of today. It houses works by Hans-Peter Feldmann, Peter Hujar, Thomas Ruff, Claudio Moser, Gunther Selichar, Annelies Strbaamong other photographers. The collections are ehbited following themes such as industrial, police and medical photography, and a new on going section of photography of works and products.  The museum features temporal exhibitions such as New Photography from Switzerland; Stories, Histories- from the Collection of the Museum; Gregory Crewdson with photographs from 1985 to 2005; Shomei Tomatsu and Skin of a Nation and Simultaneous with Austrian Photography, just to list 2006 exhibitions. The museum is located at Gruzenstrasse 44 and it is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm and Wednesdays from 11 am to 8 pm.

Tinguely Museum is the museum of the art of movement. Based on Jean Tinguely's works who build machine sculptures designed to interact with the viewer, the museum hosts innovative instllation and sculture work that put together different medias and styles. Two of this year's exhibitions include Composer Edgard Varese's sound sculpture and Niki and Jean's l'Art et l'amour. It is located at Paul Sacher-Ankage 1 and it is open every day from 11:00 am to 7:00pm, it closes on Mondays.
