Weather conditions in Umbria remain quite pleasant throughout the year. Winter lows range in the upper 30s and winter highs range in the upper 40s to low 50s. Summertime conditions can be quite hot and humid, especially during July and August when lows range in the mid 60s and highs range in the mid to upper 80s. (However, at 1500 feet above sea level, you may still want to toss a sweater or jacket in your luggage for summer nights.) The most pleasant weather for touring usually occurs during late spring and early fall. These times also coincide with a slower tourist season; meaning you won't have to fight through large crowds when visiting all the sights that Assisi has to offer. Another reason to avoid traveling the Assisi in August (aside from missing the hot and humid weather) is the most of Italy is on vacay - especially around August 15, Ferragosto, or celebration of the Assumption Feast.
