Taormina is mostly a place for singles, couples (of all ages from honeymooners to retired seniors), or families with older children that can appreciate the historical aspects of a city that keeps trace of almost every epoch of humanity and can enjoy the performing arts events. Taormina is a city to walk around for sightseeing and shopping, and kids sometimes, doesn't like to walk. It is a town that prompts viewing and not so much doing things. And, the entertainment, bars, restaurants and cultural events are geared towards a mature audience that don’t have kids.

Sure, small children can enjoy the beach, and trips outside town to the natural reserves and parks. But even in these parks there is a lot of walking involved (along staircases and lanes at the Isolla Bella Nature Reserve, or to Alcantara River Park where you will need to walk along the riverbeds, in cold water even in Summer) that the little ones may tire of.

It is not impossible, but it is more challenging for parents. On the upside, it is a good excuse to acquaint the kids with the history that they learn in a classroom through architecture and art works.
