Spring is a great time to head to the south of Italy, when the orange and lemon trees are in bloom. The weather is warm without being too hot, but generally even summer is a good time to visit Sorrento. The ocean breezes from the bay create a generally mild climate year round.

Numerous summer events, including the Sorrento Summer of Music Festival draw in the crowds, and empty streets aren’t likely to be found. In fact the city can be absolutely packed during the summer months, so plan accordingly and book your reservations early. The prices are generally higher during this peak travel time as well.

Spring and fall thus make good alternatives for your visit. And even during the winter months Sorrento is still a fine place to visit thanks to its mild climate, with numerous concerts, exhibits and even film screenings held outdoors. This is also a good time to visit the Mount Vesuvius, when the crowds are lighter and the air a bit cooler.
