Most travelers reach the Amalfi Coast by airplane, flying in to the Capodichino Airport which is located in nearby Naples.  This airport is served by such international airlines as British Airways ( www.british-airways.com) and SkyEurope.   Information about the airport itself is online at http://www.worldairportguide.com/airp... .  Additional information about getting in to the Naples area is online at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g18... .

Upon arrival in Naples, travelers can opt to rent a car, hire a taxi or use public transportation to get to the Amalfi Coast.  Travelers interested in taking the train will be heading from Naples to Salerno and will then need to find alternative methods of public transportation for getting to the other areas.  The bus is a preferred choice by many for getting to the other areas of the Amalfi Coast.

Instead of getting to the area by plane, some travelers opt to reach the Amalfi Coast by boat.  This is most commonly done during the summer, when ferries are easy to obtain from any of the ports.  Most people who come to the area in this way do so via cruise ship.  Speaking with a local travel agent is the best way to obtain information about this option.

The Region of Campania has invested heavily in a funicular railway from Agerola to Praiano in hopes of adding another mode of transportation to the Costiera Amalfitana.   Presently, only architectual and survey work has been started.
