The Church of San Jose was constructed between 1730 and 1748 by the architect Pedro de Ribera. The style of the church is Baroque. The façade was remodeled by the architect Juan Moya in 1912. There is a niche above the entrance door that has the image of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, which was created in 1750 by the artist Roberto Michel, one of the artists who worked on the Cibeles Fountain. The church interior is Baroque. The church floor plan is the Latin cross and there is one central nave and two lateral naves. The Chapel of Santa Teresa has many beautiful paintings. There is an important sculpture of the Crucified Christ by Alonso de Mena and a San Jose by Luis Salvador Carmona.
