Capilla del Patrocinio

The Capilla del Patrocinio is a famous modern chapel in the Barrio of Triana (Calle Castilla, 162). It contains the statue of Cristo del Cachorro, a crucified Christ that was sculpted in 1682 by the artist Francisco Antonio Ruiz Gijon. The statue shows the suffering of Christ with so much expression that it looks like reality and is considered as a masterwork of the Baroque age. This statue is revered by the people of Seville and is paraded during the Holy Week processions. The chapel is the seat of the Cofradia del Santisimo Cristo de la Expiracion y Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio.
