Driving is the preferred method by which most tourists get around Marbella.  The main highway in the area is N-340.  This is the only area likely to experience traffic problems, and these mainly occur during rush hour which occurs from seven in the morning until ten in the morning, from two in the afternoon until five in the afternoon and briefly again around eight in the evening.  Most people rent cars at the airport upon arrival.

For those people who want to get around on their own without having to worry about driving and parking a car, motor scooters are another rental option.  Motors scooters take up less space and so are easier to park.  Drivers should be aware that motor scooter accidents are common, helmets are required and driving laws are strictly enforced.’

Visitors who don’t wish to drive themselves can hire taxis (see http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g18... ) or make use of public transportation (see http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g18... ) to get to where they need to go.  Biking and walking are also popular methods of getting around Marbella for those visitors who want to see the area and get some exercise at the same time.  Walking along the beach is a favorite tourist activity enjoyed throughout the year in the entire area surrounding Marbella.
