Being an ancient city, Koblenz is home to a number of historical attractions which draw large numbers of visitors each year.  One of the most popular of these is the Stolzenfels Castle, a very well preserved 13th Century fortress located about 3 miles south of the city.  Stolzenfels Castle was built on a high bluff overlooking the Rhine River and is also from where the Koblenz suburb of Stolzenfels gets its name.  Visitors can tour the castle and its popular collection of antique armor and weaponry during every month of the year except December when the castle is closed to the public.  See the castle's website for hours and more information (in German).

Another of Koblenz's popular tourist destinations is its Museum of Military Technology.  Run by the German Office of Defense Technology, this museum is home to exhibits featuring the newest in modern weaponry to the oldest airplanes and vehicles.  The museum also has a large collection of clothing and uniforms.  It is located at 85 Mayener Strasse and offers guided tours.

Also in Koblenz is the German Wine Village, which was built as a showcase for the German wine industry in 1925 as an exhibit in Koblenz's German Wine Exhibition that year.  Today the Wine Village offers visitors the opportunity to learn the history of German wines and try several varieties.  They also offer gourmet foods and guided tours.  See their website for hours and directions (in German).
