The main shopping street of Cologne, the pedestrian Hohe Strasse, starts at the Dom and is easy to find. Both side of the street are lined with clothes, shoes and jewelry stores at moderate to inexpensive prices. Schildergasse continues Hohe Strasse and offers a couple of department stores, like Marks & Spencer and Kaufhof, and the impressive new P&C flagship store. It will lead you to Neumarkt   dominated by Neumarkt Galerie. Zeppelinstrasse and Mittelstrasse, right off Neumarkt, have some exclusive boutiques with higher-level brands and designer discount stores, like Fashionesta.

Over one hundred galleries and annual fairs offer solid choice of goods to serious art collectors, many specialize in contemporary art.

Of course, if you are looking for a small souvenir from Cologne, nothing beats a flacon of the original Eau de Cologne or Kolnisch Wasser(www.4711.com).
