A note about shopping in Baden-Baden (or most places in Europe, for that matter): shops are often closed for lunch and all day Sunday. In fact, Baden-Baden’s city council sets restrictions about shop hours so that stores may do business only on a few select Sundays. These days are generally crowded, though, so do not plan to get much shopping done on Sundays in general.

If you are looking for classy, high-end products, go to Goldenes Kreuz in Aguusta Arcaden, which has several shops devoted to luxury items such as designer shoes and jewelry. The building is located in front of the Augusta Plaza.

Souvenir shops often come attached to the city’s many attractions; the Trinkhalle building, for example, which offers mineral water as a cure for minor ailments, has a gift shop. Vineyards and wine cellars located throughout the Black Forest region will also usually have bottles or cases of their product for sale at the end of wine tasting sessions or tours. Small boutiques (usually with rather steep prices) can also be found in the center of town, especially on Main Street. Most of them are geared toward tourists.

For dirt cheap goods, try the flea market. Shoppers who love rummaging for a good bargain should try to be in Baden-Bade between May and September. The city’s flea market operates about once a month during this season on Kaiserallee.
