Excursions without a car - by bus or train:

EZE VIILLAGE:  You can either  take the SNCF train from the Nice station to the Eze station and then connect to bus 83 up to Eze Village, or just take the 82 bus direct from Nice and enjoy the spectacular views f, along the way from the Moyen Corniche It is a lovely day trip into a medieval city full of beautiful vistas and shops.  You can combine this with another 1/2 day trip to see Monte Carlo in the morning and Eze in early afternoon.  Bus number 112 runs between Monte Carlo and Eze Village, though not at all frequent.  Check the bus schedules on line.

ST PAUL DE VENCE:  this is another wonderful day trip from Nice.   Take bus 400 directly from Nice, or train to Cagnes sur Mer and connect to bus 400 there for a short bus ride up to the medieval town of St Paul de Vence.  Eat lunch or dinner at Columbe d'Or (prior booking essential) though evening meals require overnight stay as the bus finishes early evening.

GRASSE - Home of perfume making.  Sign up and make your own scent.  A nice and easy day trip.

ANTIBES - great and easy day trip by train.  Visit Picasso museum, absinthe bar and wear comfy shoes to walk around the water.  Great walk and beautiful.

CANNES: The restaurants at the marina in Cannes are amazing!  Try restaurants in Rue Commandant Andre between Croisette and Rue d'Antibes.  Good restaurants, shopping a great way to get to Rue d'Antibes where  the shopping is more reasonable in price.

ST JEAN CAP DE FERRAT: take the bus for 1.50 Euros (the 81 from the port) and just marvel at the views!  Get off at the Villa Rothschild at the top of the hill, a fabulous house and gardens with stunning views and a lovely outdoor tea room. then, walk down to the village for a well deserved glass of wine in one of the sea front cafes, and wonder why they make such a fuss of Promenade when this is so much better.

Excursions by car only

MOUGINS - Mougins is as nice as St. Paul de Vence

MANDELIEU/ AGAY - Shortly after Cannes is Mandelieu and then places like Agay. Ddrive the winding road along the coast for about 30 minutes from Cannes. The drive along the coastal road is quite beautiful, with alot of different landscapes (some people have said it reminds them of the Calif. coast). The beaches are quiet, beautiful and much more relaxing than in the towns of Nice or Cannes. There are many snack shops and restaurants along the way.

LES ARCS: You might also want to visit the winery Font du Broc, in Les Arcs. Its about an hour from Nice via the autoroute. While the south does not usually have the best wines in France, this winery is an exception. And it is a very interesting and enjoyable place to visit.

VALBONNE VILLAGE: .While there are probably more English there now than French, it is a lively village about 15 km. from Antibes, not far from Sophia Antipolis. There are many shops and restaurants.
