The Nice Jazz Festival is one of the best ways to make the most of your vacation on the French Riviera and it is the largest jazz festival in Europe. The Festival attracts 45,000 spectators annually on July 21-28 and with 75 concerts, three stages on the olive-tree-lined, sea-view Boulevard de Cimiez, it is a perfect summer pass-time. The festival has been going on since the 1940s in this Gallo-Roman amphitheater and it has a broad program that is not limited to just jazz. Some of the performers that will be there this year include: Erykah Badul, Cesaria Evora, and Kanye West.

If you're interested in going to the opera, you can catch a matinee at the Nice Opera. Unfortunately, the rest is sold out a year in advance. The opera season runs from November to April. The box office is located on: 4 rue St. Francoi-de-Paule and phone number is 93-85-67-31.

Also check out the Theatre de Nice on the Promenade des Arts (93-80-52-60). You can purchase tickets for shows between 2pm and 7pm, Tuesday to Saturday and one hour before each show. Check this out for a list of the 2005-2006 program.
