Knocknarea can be seen from all over Sligo. With Queen Maeves Tomb visible from the distance. If you travel to Strandhill and go down to the sea front, take a look back and you will have a breathtaking view of the mountain. Drive back up to the top of the road and turn right, you will see a sign to park up your car and walk up the mountain. The climb does get steeper as you get to the top but the views are well worth it. Strandhill airport is clearly visible from the top and you can see the light aircraft coming in and taking off from the airstrip. If you enjoy walking and love the open views this walk is thoroughly recommended as part of your trip to Sligo.
