Belltable Arts Centre

Belltable provides programs of a wide variety of arts, including dance, theatre, film, music and comedy. Begun in 1981, this is Limerick's premier showcase for the performing arts. The centre puts on performances of a wide variety of artists, local and international. Each year, the venue is home to the Limerick Unfringed theatre festival, which draws a diverse selection of dramatic pieces and other events to the city. A film club screens both art house and popular films every Monday.

In addition, there are a bar and cafe on site, so you can have dinner and go see a movie, or have a drink before watching a theatre performance.

Hours and Admission

Belltable Arts Centre is located at 69 O'Connell Street in downtown Limerick, east of the river. Tickets for theatre performances typically cost between fifteen to twenty euros. Tickets for the film club are 8€ in the evening and 5€ for a matinee. The centre is open during the week from 9 am to 9 pm, and on Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm. Performances of plays usually start around 8 pm.

Impact Theatre

For a truly original experience check out the Impact Theatre on O'Connell Crescent. It's not very big and they don't serve refreshments, but you are guaranteed to see a show that you wouldn't get to see anywhere else in Ireland. (They specialise in Irish Premieres and original works). They don't tour either so if you don't catch them there you can forget about seeing them anywhere else. None of them get paid, and yet they constantly chooses to put on the non-comercial stuff just because they believe in it. It's a very unique vibe. Tickets are usually about ten euro, and it's a really good idea to phone in advance because their space is small and most of their shows sell out pretty quick to the locals.
