By Air
Access to Limerick by air is best done via Shannon International Airport ( SNN ), located about half an hour west of Limerick. Major airlines with service to Shannon include Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Delta, US Airways, Easyjet and Ryanair. Service between Shannon and the United States is limited to a few specific cities because of the Air Services Agreement between the two countries. This also applies to Canada, whose only city with flights to Shannon is Toronto. There is a bus service, Bus Eireann, that links Shannon Airport to Limerick. Otherwise you can take a taxi or rent a car.
By Train
The Limerick train station is centrally-located and also serves as Limericks main bus station. Train and bus service between Limerick and other major Irish cities is convenient and frequent. A major commuter rail line is being planned for high-speed, hourly service between Limerick and Dublin, slated to run before the end of 2007. Limerick Railway Station ( aka Colbert Station ) is located in Parnell Street in the City.
By Car
Limerick is convenient to many major Irish highways. The N7 runs east to Dublin, which takes a little under 3 hours. The N20 runs south to Cork in about an hour and a half. Driving to Galway can be done via the N19 to N66 to N6, which takes about two hours.
