Pitlochry is a beautiful location and travelers should spend as much time as possible outdoors in order to best enjoy the area.  The best way of doing this is through the famous walking tours of the area.  Some of these are casual and leisurely and others are more active and akin to traditional hiking.

One of the lesser known but most beautiful of these walks is the Killiecrankie Walk, which includes the Killecrankie Pass as part of its route.  There is a visitor’s center at that pass, open during the tourist season from April through October.  Travelers can get additional information about the walk at the visitor’s center of the pass.

Travelers who enjoy hiking may also find that Ben Vrackie is a terrific place for them to head.  This is one of the tallest mountains in the area and the hike is considered difficult, so only those people who are in good shape should plan on doing the full hike.  But even lesser capable travelers can enjoy hiking a portion of the Ben Vrackie trails.  Hikers who want a less strenuous experience should head to Queen’s View which is just a few short miles from the heart of Pitlochry.

In terms of more traditional sporting activities, the Pitlochry Golf Club ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction... ) is one of the most popular courses in the entire area.  It is considered a moderately difficult course and is enjoyed by locals as well as travelers.
