Blackpool has many distinct neighbourhoods - almost small towns within a town. It is made up of  3 distinct zones - north shore (including Bispham), central and south shore (including Marton). Each zone has its own distinct  identity and something valuable to offer for visitors.

North Shore is one of the most quietest and least touristy areas of Blackpool, mainly consisting of  nice residential neighbourhoods, industry and buisiness parks. However many of the town's largest and arguably the most high rated rated hotels are situated on the promenade in this area. The village of Bispham is situated at the far north of Blackpool and has shops, a small supermarket, pubs and very good resturants, so is well worth a visit if you are staying in area. North Shore promendade also boasts the least crowded of all sections of this town's coastline and is well worth a visit if you want to get away from the hussle and bustle of the town centre.

Central Blackpool is where a lot of the action is from a nightlife point of view. Mainly comprising the town's guest houses, main transport links, large shopping area, and hundreds of bars, nightclubs and resturants. Not to mention Blackpool Tower, Winter Gardens, the Grand Theatre, Sea Life, North and Central Pier and lots and lots of arcades. However, backing this mecca of entertainment is one of Blackpool's oldest residential areas. Although not much to look at and a bit rough and seedy in parts, a wander around the quiet back streets can be very revealing and interesting. Small link roads of the main road reveal the best fish and chip shops, lots of great cafes and little trinket shops. For a great pint, try the Pump and Truncheon pub, Bonny Street (behind the Sea Life Centre).

South Shore is a favourite neighbourhood, however sadly run down in parts. It has everything. It has the town's busiest sections of promenade, with the Pleasure Beach, South Pier and Sancastle Waterworld all within 5 minutes' walking distance. However, south shore also has a large shopping area with lots of good appliance and food shops, supermarkets, cafes, excellant resturants and some good pubs. It also has the most beautiful section of promenade (New South Promenade) stretching from the Pleasure Beach all the way to Squires Gate Lane sand dunes. This recently renovated promendade walk is a structural masterpeice, comprising fabulous views and interesting art sculptures. But South Shore mostly contains a huge residential area. Marton is especially nice with high market properties, beautiful parks including one of the country's largest - Stanley Park , arguably the best fish and chip resturant The Cottage Chippy! The best restaurant is the SeaFood Resturant on Bond Street. Christmas down south shore is a particular sight as many of the local residents take their xmas decorations very seriously indeed and a march down Waterloo Road in mid December will prove the point.
