Ambleside has several cab companies that you can choose from. The prices for the taxis aren't too expensive, but if you continue to use them quite frequently you will end up spending a lot of money. If you are going to be in town for a while, it probably isn't a good idea to keep using taxis. Because of this, you can use the public transportation system. Cumbria has a very good and efficient system of public transportation, and this is a good way to safe money and get around if you will be in town for a while. Still, if you want to use a taxi, there are several companies to choose from. The companies include, but are not limitied to: Browns Taxis(015394 33263), Kevin's Taxis(015394 32371), and Ambleside Autos(015394 33842). Some companies offer service to different areas, and they are all based out of different parts of town, so some will get to you sooner. If you want to rent a car, you can do so from an agency located in town, or you can get one at the train station or nearby airport. Driving around the countryside is a very nice thing to do, so this is a popular option. You will probably have to spend a good amount of money to do this, however.
