There are a wide variety of outdoor activities for every season that you can enjoy in and around Quebec City. The many rivers in the area provide ample opportunity for rafting. The breathtaking scenery of the brilliant Rivière Jacques-Cartier, just outside of the city, makes this river one perfect rafting location. Just north of Quebec City in the Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier, there are trails for hiking and cycling in the summer or snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dogsledding in the winter. Here there are also bodies of water where canoeing, kayaking and portaging are popular activities. Within thirty kilometers of the city there are four major ski resorts, Mont-Sainte-Anne, Station touristique Stoneham, Centre de ski Le Relais and Le Massif, all offering snow-topped mountains and exciting slopes for downhill skiers. Quebec City also has a network of bike paths that covers 68 kilometers within the city and intersects with the long distance Corridor des Cheminots just north of the Old Port.
