If you fly one of the two airlines that serve Toronto Billy Bishop Airport (Porter and Air Canada), you're a short distance from most of the hotels recommended in Toronto: Where To Stay.

See Toronto: Arriving & Departing for airport information and other ways of arriving in the city.

Getting Downtown from Toronto City Centre (Billy Bishop) Airport, YTZ

To get between the island and the mainland, use the airport's ferry.  It makes its very short run from the airport to Eireann Quay (the south end of Bathurst Street) every 15 minutes.  Note that this is not the same ferry as the city-operated Toronto Island ferries -- you cannot walk between the City Centre Airport and the rest of the Toronto Islands.

Once on the "mainland", you have several options for getting into the heart of downtown.

Porter Airlines Shuttle Bus

Time  Less than 10 minutes
Cost Free

Every fifteen minutes, a shuttle bus runs between the mainland ferry terminal and the south side of Front Street west of York Street. This is across the street from Union Station, where you can connect to VIA Rail, GO Transit, or the TTC.

Toronto Transit Commission (public transit)

Time

10 minutes to Union subway station
18 minutes to Bathurst subway station

Cost  $3.00 per adult (regular TTC fare)
Web Site  www.ttc.ca

The 509 Harbourfront streetcar (to Union Station) serves the stop at the intersection of Queens Quay Blvd and Bathurst St., one block north of the lake, when it is in operation. It is currently replaced by a bus whose route varies with the construction on Queen's Quay.  The 511 Bathurst streetcar (to Bathurst Station) serves the stop at the intersection of Bathurst St. and Fleet St., one block north of Queens Quay.

Pay when you board (cash only; drivers don't make change).  See Toronto: Public Transportation for more information.

Taxi

There is very limited parking at the airport (at the foot of Eireann Quay, and two blocks west at Stadium Road).  The parking costs $34 per day (plus taxes) as of December 2008.

Nearby Parking

Web Site  Harbourfront Centre - Parking ("P6")

There's an underground garage operated by Harbourfront Centre at the west end of Spadina Quay (on the south side of Queens Quay, just east of Dan Leckie Way), a 500 metre walk from the airport.

The Porter web site mentions a garage for customers on Queen's Quay that includes a shuttle.

Car Rental

Hertz rents cars at the airport terminal for pickup on the mainland. See the Porter Airlines web site. Alternatively, take the shuttle to downtown and rent from one of the many locations near Union Station.
