Because Penticton is protected from severe weather by the west coast mountain range, the climate is generally very pleasant and comfortable. If you visit the city in the summer, you will see that it is a long and warm season. Daily highs are in the high 20's (low 80's Fahrenheit), and overnight lows are in the 10-12°C range (low 50's). There is not much rain in the summer months; on average, June, July and August each have about 28 mm of rainfall, or just over an inch per month.

In early fall, there is tremendous scenery, but you can still enjoy the outdoors because of the warm weather; the average daily high temperature in September is 22°C (72°F), but the weather gets cooler in October, with daily highs around 14°C (57°F). Even though it is starting to get colder out, you don't really feel that it's coming on too soon, and you can truly enjoy yourself. That changes, though, in November, when the mercury drops to a daily high of 6°C (43°F), and overnight lows hover near the freezing mark (0°C / 32°F).

Even visiting in the winter isn't too bad, as it is a shorter winter than most other spots, and it's not nearly as cold as in other cities, with daily highs just above freezing, and daily lows just below freezing. Snowfall is moderate, however, with the months of December and January each receiving about 22 cm (8.5 in), and February getting half as much. There is a chance of freezing rain throughout the winter months.

If you visit in the spring, the weather is extremely enjoyable. You can stay outside for a long time doing various activities, with average daily highs rising steadily from 10°C (50°F) in March to 20°C (72°F) in May, while overnight lows also increase, from 0°C (32°F) in March to 7°C (45°C) in May. It doesn't really get too cold, and there are rarely freak storms from the dying winter. However, late spring is definitely the rainiest season in Penticton; however, the rain is only 20 mm (0.9 in) in March, 26 mm (1 in) in April, and 37 mm (1.5 in) in May and June.

Basically, any time of year that you visit the city is a good time of year. Each season has different events and festivals to take part in, and they are all worth checking out.
