Transit

The Regional District of Nanaimo and BC Transit together operate Regional Transit .  It provides both regular transit service and HandyDART custom transit service to the area from Cedar in the south of the Regional District to Qualicum Beach in the north.

Regional Transit serves urban residential areas and provides participating rural areas with connections to shopping, educational and recreational facilities in Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

HandyDART (Dial A Ride Transport) provides door-to-door transportation for people with special needs.  Anyone with a disability that prevents him or her from using regular transit is eligible to register for HandyDART’s dial-a-ride service. There is no registration fee.

Parking 

Long-term parking is available in the city, and 24-hour paid parking lots can be found at many of the larger business areas in town, including the Port Place Shopping Centre, Pioneer Plaza, Departure Bay, Duke Point and Nanaimo Airport.
