Unfortunately, public transportation is not a widely used travel option in Lake Louise.  The main reason for this is that most travelers reach the area via the Calgary Airport (for more information, see http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g15... ) which is located more than one hundred miles away from Lake Louise, forcing visitors to rent a car upon arrival at the airport.  (Information on car rental is available at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g15... .)  Because most travelers are renting cars before they reach the area, the demand for public transportation has not been strong enough in the area for real progress to be made.

For travelers who do arrive in the area without a car, the most common mode of transportation is taxi.  (For more information, see http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g15... .)  This is not a higher preferred method but is one which can be used.

Visitors seeking public transportation will be happy to know that there are some limited shuttle options and bus options.  These are less for use within Lake Louise as they are for getting from Lake Louise to surrounding areas.  However, they may be helpful all the same.  Speaking with a travel agent or a tourist information center customer service representative is the best method of getting up to date information about these options.
