It's surprising to say but some people don't fish! For those people, don't miss a great day in Zihua Bay or on the ocean. It's a perfect way to get a different perspective of the area and view the beautiful, rugged coastline. Two popular cruises are the Nature Cruise/Pacific Discovery Voyage and the Sunset Cruise.
The Nature Cruise (called 'Pacific Discovery Voyage' on the Picante) will provide your family with a lifetime opportunity to have a pod of Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin swimming and jumping right along side of your boat. You will see the Olive Ridley sea turtles as they head to shore to lay their eggs or on their return trip back. You might come across the jumping rays which is a fantastic sight. Numerous varieties of birds will be found "working a bait ball" and you might have a close encounter with a Humpback Whale and maybe a calf. The whale's are in the area from mid-December to the end of March.
The Sunset Cruise is very special. The Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa area is know for the beautiful sunsets and what better way to enjoy them than on the ocean. Chances are that you will also see some of the marine life as in the Nature Cruise. The trip normally heads North out of Zihuatanejo Bay and hug's the coastline toward Ixtapa. After viewing the high rise hotel's of Ixtapa, the cruise will circle Ixtapa Island as you enjoy the sunset.
A panga is preferred as you're much closer to the water and the marine life.
