Antigua is a perfect family destination, with endless safe beaches, clear shallow waters and exciting attractions for even the most jaded of young travellers.

Whilst the island has a reputation for great adults only resorts, there are also some excellent child-friendly options to suit every budget, from the ultra-cool Carlisle Bay to the fun of Jolly Beach, with plenty in between. Family resorts all have kids clubs if you want some time off from the children, as well as excellent babysitters - Antiguans love children!

There are some superb choices for boat trips for younsters - including the famous Eco tour, and the high octane Xtreme Circumnavigation or try ziplining in the rainforest and a short hike to Wallings Dam. For a very special trip, consider a day over on Barbuda to see the pink sand beaches, frigate bird colony and caves. For a gentler taste of desert island life, Miguel's prickly pear island is always popular with young visitors.

Lastly, don't forget Shirley Heights - children love the Steel Band in the afternoon, as well as the bbq food and a fruit punch before sunset.
