More and More, Mazatlan is becoming an artist haven. But until recently, there haven't been many galleries to view or purchase artwork.  Now that is changing.

Luna:Arte Contemporaneo just opened in the Old Town. It's the first contemporary art gallery dedicated to showing local and international artists. It just opened in November and has plans to change the exhibitions each month.  The gallery is located at Ninos Heroes #1211 between Sixto Osuna and Romanita de La Pena.

Casa Etnika is a store that features handcrafts from around Mexico, but they also show paintings and photography of local artists. Alwin van der Heiden is an award-winning wildlife photographer who is featured at Etnika. Sixto Osuna #50

Another great spot to visit on your gallery hop is Nautilus Galeria featuring paintings, drawings and prints by Blas Nayar, a well-respected Mexican artist fron Nayarit. His work is inspired by nature but also slightly abstracted and fantastical.Constitucion #77

NidArt has been around longer than most art spots in Mazatlan. They show hand-crafted ceramics, now produced in their new studio, Limon y Mango down the street . (They also teach ceramic classes to adults and children).  And they are known for their leather masks that they create on site.  They also bring in unique pieces from throughout Mexico. Nidart is located at Libertad # 45, Limon y Mango at Benito Juarez #30.

The above are commercial galleries, but there are also many exhibition galleries, which have rotating showings of Mexican and international artists throughout the year.
