Nevis (the name is pronouced "nee-vis") is a small island in the Leeward Island chain of the Lesser Antilles. It is part of the Eastern Caribbean, and was formerly part of the British West Indies.  The island is volcanic in nature, and has a large central peak which is covered in rain forest. The Caribbean coast of Nevis has excellent sand beaches.  The island is great for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, most water sports, and all kinds of nature-watching.
